The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a plea before a special court to cancel bail granted to activists Sudha Bharadwaj and Varavara Rao, citing violations of bail conditions linked to Elgar Parishad-Maoist links case.
The plea notes that Bharadwaj and Rao attended an event at Mumbai Press Club on January 19, allegedly breaching bail requirements such as not speaking to the media. Bail conditions also include not leaving Mumbai without permission and surrendering their passports to the NIA.
The case centers on speeches made at the Elgar Parishad in Pune, December 2017, which allegedly incited violence. The court plans to hear the matter on May 22, as the NIA presses for action.
