The hearing of a case involving notable former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) figures Kumar Vishwas, Satyendar Jain, and Somnath Bharti was postponed on Friday in a special MP/MLA court. Officials cited technical and procedural issues as the cause for the deferral.
No substantial proceedings took place during the hearing, prompting the court to reschedule the session for June 5. Previously, on May 1, the court had issued summons for all the accused, instructing their appearance on May 15.
The case traces back to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, during which the leaders faced accusations of breaching the Model Code of Conduct by holding unauthorized public meetings in Amethi. After completing the investigation, police filed a chargesheet, which was initially handled by a court in Musafirkhana before being moved to Sultanpur's special MP/MLA court.
