Cyber Slavery Trap: Bihari Youth Ensnared in Southeast Asia
Over 1,600 individuals from Bihar are allegedly trapped in Southeast Asia, coerced into cyber slavery. These victims are manipulated by criminal networks to execute online fraud while having their passports seized. Authorities are sounding the alarm over a disturbing trend where approximately 1,600 Bihari individuals are believed to be trapped in Southeast Asia as cyber slaves. These victims, initially seeking employment, end up manipulated into conducting online fraud by organized criminal networks.
The victims have had their passports confiscated, leaving them unable to return home and trapped in a perilous situation. Cyber Crime and Security cell Inspector General, Ranjeet Kumar Mishra, highlighted the prevalence of these activities in countries like Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, and Laos.
Police are actively compiling details of involved persons and suspect agents who are luring more youths from Bihar into this network. Youngsters are advised to exercise caution and verify job offers to avoid becoming another victim of this mounting cyber threat.
