The Madhya Pradesh High Court's recent declaration of the Bhojshala complex as a temple dedicated to Goddess Saraswati has ignited a fervor among devotees. On Saturday, worshippers flocked to the medieval monument in Dhar, once again able to perform religious ceremonies at the site daily.
The ruling has reversed a 2003 Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) order that permitted Muslims to offer prayers at the complex on Fridays while restricting Hindu worship to Tuesdays. The Muslim community plans to challenge the verdict in the Supreme Court, setting the stage for further legal contention.
In Dhar, the atmosphere remains stable under heavy security, with 1,200 police officers deployed to maintain order. Despite the tension, both communities anticipate a potential resolution in the higher court, with vested interests preparing for the next chapter in this historic dispute.
