Jammu is preparing for a "historic" Census 2027, occurring after a fifteen-year hiatus, as announced by Jammu Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav. He urges citizens to engage actively to ensure comprehensive government welfare and service delivery enhancement.
More than 1,200 enumerators are set to undertake this massive exercise, commencing with a self-enumeration phase from May 17 to May 31. This initiative is designed to streamline later data collection, minimizing errors. The commissioner reassured that the census is not related to citizenship validation, solely gathering socio-economic data.
With field operations scheduled in June, all MLAs serve as "census ambassadors" to promote participation. Despite concerns over data privacy and citizen apprehensions, Yadav insists on confidentiality and stresses using the official portal for secure information submission, cautioning against misinformation.
