Supreme Court Pushes Maharashtra to Accelerate Bombay High Court Expansion

The Supreme Court has called on the Maharashtra government to quicken the process of transferring the remaining 10 acres required for the new Bombay High Court complex in Bandra, Mumbai.

The state has already handed over 20.15 acres and plans to deliver the rest in two phases by December 31, 2026, but the court is pushing for an earlier timeline.

The issue, originating from a letter petition by bar leaders concerning the current 150-year-old court building, remains significant, with the court scheduling a follow-up hearing in August.
