In a significant move towards enhancing social justice, the Bharatiya Janata Party's Uttar Pradesh unit celebrated the state cabinet's nod for establishing a dedicated Other Backward Classes (OBC) commission for rural bodies. State president Pankaj Chaudhary termed it a historic step in empowering OBC communities.
The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has approved the 'Uttar Pradesh State Local Rural Bodies Dedicated Backward Classes Commission', a panel designed to ensure OBC reservations are constitutional and legal. The five-member commission, led by a retired high court judge, will function for six months, aligning with Supreme Court directives.
Chaudhary highlighted the BJP's commitment to grassroots democracy and criticized the opposition Samajwadi Party for lacking initiative in institutional mechanisms for social justice. He emphasized the importance of real participation and decision-making rights for backward classes, underscoring the BJP's vision beyond mere vote-bank politics.
