Crackdown on Dehradun Captagon Factory: Allegations of Illegal Drug Production

The Uttarakhand Food Safety and Drug Administration disclosed that a Dehradun factory allegedly producing the outlawed synthetic drug Captagon is not recorded in its official documents. This statement follows reports of illegal drug production occurring at the 'Green Herbal' factory located in Sahaspur.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) discovered this illegal operation, seizing Captagon valued at approximately Rs 182 crore in Delhi's Neb Sarai area during 'Operation Ragepill'. A Syrian national, Alabras Ahmad, was arrested and claimed that some of the confiscated drugs were manufactured at the Dehradun facility in November 2025.

During a raid, advanced machinery along with chemicals and packaging materials were unearthed. This factory owner had been implicated in previous drug-related cases under investigation by both the NCB and Uttarakhand Police. The state FDA clarified that it holds no jurisdiction over the regulation of such substances, which fall under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Meanwhile, central agencies continue their probe into the matter.
