A local court on Friday sentenced a 44-year-old man to 60 days imprisonment for harassing and ill-treating his elderly parents.

According to police, G Srinivas, a private employee, had been constantly harassing his aged parents for long.

Based on a formal complaint received from the aggrieved parents on May 21, the police at Naryanguda here registered a case against him under relevant sections of the City Police (CP) Act, and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The Investigation Officer, J Srikanth Reddy, Sub-Inspector of Police, Naryanguda Police Station, conducted a thorough probe, collected strong evidence, and produced him before the V Special Judicial Magistrate Court at Nampally here, a police release said.

Upon perusing the facts of the case and evidence, the court found the man guilty of the offence and sentenced him to undergo 60 days of jail term along with a fine of Rs 50, it added.
