Two persons have been arrested here for allegedly smuggling 26 geckos by hiding them in bamboo tubes, police said on Saturday.
The incident occurred at the Betkuchi area late on Friday evening.
Police said the reptiles were concealed in 26 bamboo tubes, each wrapped in cotton clothes and nets.
Two persons from Nagaon and Barpeta districts were arrested, they said.
''The accused were found to be smuggling the live geckos concealed inside the bamboo tubes. Both have been arrested, and necessary legal action has been initiated,'' an official said.
