Continuity Boost: Outgoing Gram Pradhans to Steer Panchayats

The government of Uttar Pradesh has declared that the outgoing gram pradhans will serve as interim administrators of gram panchayats until new village panchayats are formed or for up to six months. This decision follows the upcoming expiration of the current gram panchayat term on May 26, 2026.

Duties will be limited to general administration, and any policy decisions will require district magistrate approval. This move is in line with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's directive and aims to ensure continuity in village development.

Endorsing the appointments, the National Panchayati Raj Gram Pradhan Sangathan appreciates the move, hinting at electoral backing for the government in return. The existing framework allows for uninterrupted governance and ongoing public works, supporting Yogi Adityanath's vision for a 'triple-engine government.'
