Ex-Rajganj Official Arrested for Drunk Driving and Linked to Murder Case

Prashant Barman, the former Rajganj block development officer, faced arrest in New Town, near Kolkata, over allegations of drunk driving. Police report that Barman, who had been on the run for his suspected involvement in a 2025 murder case, was detained while trying to escape after causing injury in a driving incident.

Barman, allegedly intoxicated, lost control and hit a pedestrian. Further verification revealed his identity, linking him to the ongoing murder investigation of a gold trader. Despite his uncooperative behavior during the arrest, he was released on bail by the Barasat court due to procedural gaps in presenting murder case documents.
