The operation took place on the night of May 25 and 26 following detailed intelligence shared by ATS Gujarat about potential drug smuggling. During the operation, ICG interceptor boats carrying ATS officers searched the Mundra anchorage, where they observed suspicious activities on a vessel named MV Europe.
