Jaishankar Engages EU Ministers on Geopolitical Cooperation in Cyprus

India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar took part in an informal gathering of European Union foreign ministers in Cyprus on Thursday, focusing on joint collaborations and common interests in the evolving multipolar world.

Jaishankar's visit to Cyprus, which began on Wednesday, coincided with significant geopolitical tensions in West Asia and wider European regions. He underscored the deepening partnership between India and the EU across various domains, emphasizing shared opportunities and collaborative ventures. In discussions with Jose Manuel Albares, EU's foreign minister and Spanish government cooperation minister, Jaishankar explored potential advancements in trade, technology, and defense ties, also addressing current global and regional developments.

The informal nature of the Gymnich meetings allows EU foreign ministers to address key geo-economic challenges and strategic issues. Jaishankar also had brief discussions with his counterparts from the Netherlands, Poland, France, Slovakia, and Estonia, as well as Poland's Deputy Prime Minister Radosław Sikorski, further enhancing bilateral relations and understanding of strategic perspectives.
