India Aims for 100 Million Foreign Tourists by 2047

Union tourism minister Gajendra Shekhawat outlined an ambitious strategy for India's tourism sector, projecting a surge in foreign visitors from 10 million currently to 100 million by 2047. He expects the sector's GDP contribution to exceed 7% by 2030, owing to economic growth and infrastructure enhancements.

Shekhawat acknowledged the present challenges in the tourism landscape, such as inadequate infrastructure and high hotel costs. Despite these issues, he noted India's robust domestic tourism and affirmed that future improvements could elevate India's global position. He also called for a cultural shift towards better hospitality and respect for foreign tourists.
