Policy Criticism Over Fuel Crisis by Maharashtra Congress

Maharashtra Congress leader Harshwardhan Sapkal has criticized the Modi government's handling of fuel shortages and escalating prices, attributing these issues to poor policy decisions. He claimed the administration neglected economic priorities in favor of promoting 'self-reliance,' without devising a substantial fuel management strategy despite early warnings.

Sapkal argued that since 2014, the BJP-led administration has consistently raised fuel prices, benefiting oil companies. He emphasized the need for a reserve fuel fund, accusing the government of prioritizing corporate interests, and labeled it a 'major corruption issue.' The shortages have impacted various sectors, including hotels, small businesses, and homes.

Additionally, Sapkal highlighted the plight of onion farmers, who sought better minimum prices for their produce. He recalled Prime Minister Modi's past promises and threatened to intensify Congress-led protests if demands aren't met. The Congress leader also accused the BJP of inciting communal discord ahead of elections and criticized their actions during Bakri Eid, which allegedly harmed livestock farmers financially.
