The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken former judge Giribala Singh into custody following a decision by the Madhya Pradesh High Court to revoke her anticipatory bail. The development comes as part of the investigation into the death of Twisha Sharma, Singh's daughter-in-law.
Officials reported that a CBI team interrogated Singh at her residence in Bhopal before arresting her. Twisha Sharma was found dead in May under suspicious circumstances that have led to accusations of dowry harassment by her husband Samarth Singh, who is already in CBI custody.
The CBI aims to interrogate both mother and son in connection with Twisha's death, which reportedly involved domestic violence. Twisha's family alleges maltreatment over dowry, pushing her to an extreme step. The high court had earlier annulled Singh's bail, citing serious accusations against her.
Investigators continue to piece together events surrounding Twisha's demise as Singh prepares to appear in court for custody proceedings. The case highlights ongoing concerns regarding dowry-related abuse issues in India.
