Austrian Man Sentenced for Taylor Swift Concert Attack Plan

A man has been sentenced to 15 years by an Austrian court for attempting an attack on a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna two years ago. The state court in Wiener Neustadt found the 21-year-old, identified as Beran A according to privacy regulations, guilty on charges linked to the foiled concert plot.

Swift's concert was set for August 2024, but was canceled due to security concerns. Authorities discovered bomb-making materials in Beran A's apartment shortly before the event. The plan targeted fans with potential knife or explosive attacks outside the stadium.

Beran A was also involved with alleged plots with another defendant, Arda K, and a third individual detained in Saudi Arabia, focusing on attacks in other countries. Although these additional plans did not materialize, they were part of a broader terrorism strategy linked to the Islamic State.

The court's ruling included a conviction for attempted murder relating to a separate incident in Mecca involving another accomplice, Hasan E. After the verdict, Beran's attorney stated discussions would ensue regarding potential appeals.
