Investigations Initiated After Suspected Toxic Liquor Causes Multiple Deaths in Pimpri Chinchwad and Pune
After seven deaths in Pimpri Chinchwad suspected to be caused by toxic liquor, authorities probe similar links in recent Pune fatalities. Eight people are in custody, including a key bootlegger. Investigations continue in both cities to ascertain the causes and prevent further tragedies.

Authorities in Pimpri Chinchwad are investigating after seven individuals died, allegedly from consuming spurious liquor. A similar situation is under review in Pune, where three deaths occurred within 24 hours.
The police have detained eight individuals linked to a suspected distribution of methanol-laced liquor in Phugewadi. An inquiry ordered by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is underway. Pune police are also examining the possibility of toxic alcohol being involved in recent deaths there.
Deputy Commissioner Sandip Atole stated that test results are awaited to confirm the cause of the deaths. State Excise Commissioner Atul Kanade mentioned that one suspect, responsible for supplying liquor to both affected areas, has been apprehended.
