A special Mumbai court has refused bail for Amol Gaikwad, accused of sheltering shooters involved in the murder of Nationalist Congress Party leader Baba Siddique. The court cited substantial evidence indicating his role in the crime's conspiracy.
The October 2024 murder saw Siddique shot by three assailants. Judge Satyanarayan R. Navander emphasized Gaikwad's involvement with an organised crime syndicate. Despite Gaikwad's claims of innocence, the court rejected his bail, stating his actions were critical to the conspiracy.
Defense claims of procedural errors and coerced confessions were countered by the prosecution, stressing Gaikwad's specific role in aiding the murder plot. The judge distinguished Gaikwad's actions from those of other accused granted bail, underscoring his pivotal participation in the case.
