Jammu's Kala Kendra is hosting a captivating exhibition showcasing paper Aari art by acclaimed artist Ritu Gupta. With over 50 pieces on display at the Sansar Chand Gallery, the event marks an ambitious presentation of this intricate and rare art form, continuing until June 5.

Ritu Gupta began her artistic journey with Aari embroidery on paper in 2014, drawing inspiration from her mother and guidance from mentor Amrit Kaur. Her innovative work, which includes both traditional and experimental methods, won the first prize at the Jammu and Kashmir UT Annual Artisan Award-2024. The exhibition includes depictions of public figures and nature-inspired themes, demonstrating the intricate possibilities of Aari art on paper.

Gupta believes that artistic endeavors can play a crucial role in mental well-being, and through her exhibition, she hopes to provide a platform for people to discover a new artistic experience. Kala Kendra is not only displaying the artworks but also planning to initiate workshops with Gupta to share her craft with the youth and preserve this distinctive art form.

The exhibition has been met with enthusiasm from both art lovers and officials, marking it as a significant cultural event. The use of beads, seashells, and other decorative materials adds further depth to Gupta's work, inviting visitors to explore the delicate beauty and profound dedication embedded in each piece.
