The Chief Election Commissioner remarked that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls is vital for ensuring transparent and fair elections, following the Supreme Court's affirmation of the review process. He delivered these comments at a gathering of legal representatives who defend the Election Commission in judicial settings.

The commissioner noted that India is experiencing a unique moment where electoral fairness is paramount, applauding the successful fulfillment of constitutional requirements by SIR. He credited lakhs of election workers with contributing to the high accuracy of the country's voter rolls.

Recent legal challenges in West Bengal and Bihar prompted a meeting of legal advisors to bolster the legal strategy of the Election Commission. The Supreme Court's decision confirmed the Commission's authority to implement SIR, a move seen as critical to upholding election integrity.

Despite accusations from opposition parties suggesting biased actions by the Commission, the ruling was viewed as a reaffirmation of its role in guaranteeing democratic processes.
