Punjab Civic Poll Outcome Ignites Opposition Protests

The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) celebrated a significant triumph in the Punjab municipal elections, securing 958 of 1,977 wards. In contrast, opposition parties expressed skepticism over the election's transparency. While the Congress secured a distant 397 wards, the Shiromani Akali Dal, BJP, BSP, and independents trailed further behind.
Punjab's Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann, responded to the criticism by affirming the polls' fairness and transparency. He emphasized that opposition candidates also won numerous seats, illustrating the election's integrity. Mann criticized rivals for failing to accept their losses and recognized the continuous support for AAP's policies from Punjab's citizens.
Mann also addressed internal dynamics within the BJP, noting its decline in popularity among voters. Reflecting on the future, he expressed optimism about AAP's prospects in forthcoming state elections, anticipating continued leadership bolstered by public endorsement.
