The Indian Navy is ramping up its anti-submarine warfare and surveillance operations to confront potential threats presented by the growing maritime activities of China and Pakistan in the Indian Ocean region, according to Admiral Dinesh Tripathi.

Speaking about strategic challenges, Tripathi emphasized that bolstering maritime security remains a priority, aiming to safeguard India's interests amid increasing regional competition. Enhanced surveillance and capability development are key facets of the Navy's adaptive approach. Recent collaborations between Pakistan and China in the maritime domain highlight the pressing needs for India's heightened readiness. The introduction of China-built submarines for Pakistan underscores these developments.

The Admiral reiterated that the Navy's focus is not on any particular nation but maintaining security and stability in the Indo-Pacific. This involves credible deterrence through enhanced operational readiness, technological advancements, and expanding the Navy's fleet towards self-reliance in the defence sector.

Tripathi detailed the Navy's ongoing modernization, including substantial domestic shipbuilding efforts under the Project 75 India. With a commitment to growing strategic autonomy, the Indian Navy is transitioning from external procurement to internal development—a shift marked by an increase in indigenously designed vessels and poised to ensure comprehensive maritime security.
