Delhi police have apprehended six individuals implicated in a significant jewellery theft incident in Kotla Mubarakpur. The authorities recovered a haul of stolen items, including gold, silver, and cash, worth over Rs 10 lakh. The suspects were planning to escape to West Bengal before being arrested.
Investigations began on May 10 following a report of a break-in at a jewellery store in Punjabi Bazar. Through CCTV analysis and technical leads, police identified a vehicle used in the crime. The primary suspects were arrested on May 18, along with three individuals accused of receiving the stolen property.
Among those arrested are Masqoor, Baharul Sheikh, and Anand Mandal, charged with the robbery. Jahangir, Gulfam, and Mumtiyaj are accused of handling stolen goods. The retrieved items, including melted gold and silver, diamond stones, and cash, were seized, alongside an artificial jewellery collection and a toy pistol.
The operation saw the accused targeting high-value jewellery spots and commercial places at night, selling the loot through receivers. All parties involved have been placed in judicial custody as the case progresses.
