Women Attempt Self-Harm in Protest Over Land Issue in Odisha

In a distressing turn of events, two women reportedly attempted to take their own lives by consuming poison near the residence of Odisha's Chief Minister. The protest was rooted in frustrations over a prolonged land dispute in Khurda district, which has seen no resolution.

The incident unfolded at a designated protest area in Lower PMG, Bhubaneswar, confirmed by DCP Jagmohan Meena. The women had been demonstrating to urge authorities to address their grievances concerning a land issue in Banpur, Khurda. Authorities intervened, but before their relocation to Banpur, the two women consumed poison in a nearby public facility.

Police quickly transported the women to Capital Hospital, where they underwent necessary medical treatment. DCP Meena stated that following treatment, the women are now in stable condition and out of immediate danger.
