Delhi and Centre Collaborate on Major Road Projects to Ease NCR Traffic

The Delhi government and Centre have unveiled ambitious plans to alleviate traffic congestion in the National Capital Region through a series of six major road projects. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta shared that these initiatives focus on enhancing connectivity between Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, and Ghaziabad.

Following discussions with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, projects such as the Urban Extension Road-II and Delhi-Dehradun Expressway Link are set to commence. A 17-km corridor will connect key highways, significantly easing travel demands by December 2026.

Included in the proposals is a 65-km expressway improving links between Delhi, Noida, and Faridabad, projected to begin the same year. Collaborative efforts also extend to upgrading infrastructure around the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra corridor for easier access to metropolitan hubs.

Authorities are targeting areas like Kalindi Kunj for decongestion, with interchange constructions and a 20-km elevated corridor to enhance routes between Delhi and Gurugram. These projects are expected to enhance urban mobility and support future growth in the region.
