Biden Criticizes Trump's Ukraine Policy as Modern-Day Appeasement
Former President Joe Biden criticizes Donald Trump's policy on Ukraine, calling it modern-day appeasement. In a BBC interview, Biden suggests that Trump's pressures for Ukraine to cede territory to Russia will not satisfy Putin. He warns of the potential loss of European trust in U.S. leadership.

Former U.S. President Joe Biden has openly criticized his successor, Donald Trump, regarding Ukraine policy, labeling it a form of 'modern-day appeasement' in an interview with the BBC. Biden expressed his firm belief that Trump's pressure on Ukraine to surrender land to Russia will not satisfy Moscow's ambitions.
In the discussion, Biden pointed out that Russian President Vladimir Putin perceives Ukraine as a part of 'mother Russia' and warned that any assumption that Putin would stop annexing territory is naïve. 'Allowing a dictator to claim large portions of land isn't going to quench his thirst,' Biden stated in the interview aired on Wednesday, recorded earlier in the week.
Biden expressed a critical view of policy shifts under Trump, including pressing Kyiv to consider a ceasefire while reducing pressure on Russia, which invaded Ukraine in 2022. The conversation also highlighted a potential erosion of Europe's trust in America's dependable leadership, with Biden quoting European leaders doubting U.S. reliability: 'Can I rely on the United States?'
