Araghchi's visit to India on May 7 and 8 recognizes his co-chairing of the 20th Joint Commission Meeting between the two nations. This visit marks Araghchi's initial trip to India since he assumed office in August 2024.
The discussions are anticipated to touch upon the heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. The Joint Commission Meeting, held against the backdrop of the 75th anniversary of the India-Iran Friendship Treaty, aims to evaluate mutual interests and explore strategies for strengthening bilateral ties, as per an MEA statement.
