Visa Controversy: Julius Malema vs. UK Authorities
Julius Malema, a prominent South African politician, accuses the UK of denying him a visa for political reasons, preventing him from speaking at Cambridge University. The UK Home Office cited procedural issues for the delay, expressing regret for timing conflicts due to national holidays.

South African politician Julius Malema has accused the UK of denying him a visa for political motives, thwarting his plans to address an event at Cambridge University. Malema, who leads the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) opposition party, claims this move aims to silence his dissenting views.
Posting on the social media platform X, Malema detailed that he had been initially informed his visa was being processed but later received a denial letter while at Johannesburg's OR Tambo International Airport. He was awaiting a flight to London to speak at an Africa-themed event at Cambridge.
The British high commissioner to South Africa, Antony Phillipson, reportedly sent a letter apologizing for the Home Office's inability to process the visa in time, attributing the delay to procedural issues and the timing of British national holidays. Meanwhile, the UK's Home Office has not commented on the situation.
