For the first time, Venezuela's government admitted that opposition members left the Argentine diplomatic compound, challenging US and opposition claims of a rescue operation. Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello asserted the departure was negotiated, in contrast to reports from the US State Department.
The group, including key aides of opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, was originally harbored at the Argentine ambassador's residence after warrants were issued against them. Discrepancies between government and opposition accounts continued as Cabello contradicted previous opposition statements regarding their movements.
The political landscape remains tense, with ongoing allegations of government interference and opposition tactics. As political voices clashed over the unfolding drama, Venezuela faces increased scrutiny from international observers.
