Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has commended the Indian government's initiative to dismantle the narrative of communal hostility between Hindus and Muslims propagated by Pakistan. In a special briefing, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, a Kashmiri Pandit, and Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, a Muslim officer, presented a united front, countering claims made by Pakistani Army chief Asim Munir.

Tharoor expressed his concern over Pakistan's military strategies, stating that the recent Pahalgam terror attack was orchestrated to regain control amid internal turmoil. He argued that the attack was intended to harm Kashmir's booming tourism industry and foster discontent among its residents, redirecting their frustration towards India.

He criticized the Pakistan Army's influence over the government, describing it as a puppet regime that has failed its citizens. Tharoor highlighted severe power cuts, food, and water shortages as evidence of the military's inadequate governance. The operation aimed to portray India negatively on the global stage and maintain Kashmir's status as a disputed territory.
