King Charles Calls for Global Peace in VE Day Commemoration Speech
King Charles delivered a speech calling for global peace during events marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day. Joined by senior royals and veterans, he reflected on the importance of remembering past sacrifices and renewing commitments to freedom and diplomacy.

Britain's King Charles urged the world to pursue lasting peace, marking the conclusion of VE Day's 80th-anniversary commemorations. Speaking after a solemn service at Westminster Abbey, Charles attended a concert alongside veterans and dignitaries.
The event, held at Horse Guards Parade, remembered the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany in 1945. Charles echoed his grandfather George VI, emphasizing the importance of never forgetting those who died for freedom and encouraging global commitments to just peace and diplomacy.
Meanwhile, commemorations were also held in France and Germany. Russia, where President Putin spoke of 'sacred' victory, plans a military parade. Charles recounted Queen Elizabeth's VE Day celebrations, concluding with a nod to the revelry of the past.
