Zelenskiy Calls for Genuine Peace with Russia through 30-Day Ceasefire

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced his readiness to implement a 30-day ceasefire, urging it as a significant move towards achieving peace with Russia. Speaking with U.S. President Donald Trump, Zelenskiy expressed Ukraine's commitment to start the ceasefire immediately.

The call for a longer ceasefire followed a three-day pause announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin, which Zelenskiy criticized for being insufficient. Both sides continue to accuse each other of breaking the short-lived truce, but Zelenskiy remains optimistic about the potential of a 30-day break leading to lasting peace.

Besides discussing the ceasefire, Zelenskiy and Trump addressed recent progress in Ukraine, namely a parliamentary agreement on mineral exploitation and investment for reconstruction, highlighting the strengthened ties between the two nations over the years.
