In Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district, an FIR has been lodged against local BJP leader Anil Soni for allegedly posting derogatory content on Facebook that targeted a particular religious community, police announced on Friday.
Soni faces allegations from Rasra town resident Naim Zafar and six others, accusing him of making offensive remarks against Prophet Muhammad and other communal statements, which incited significant tension locally.
These posts led to protests at Rasra's Gandhi Park, with demands for swift legal action. Rasra police confirmed the initiation of proceedings, with Soni identified as the town head of the BJP's OBC wing by district party officials.
