The Samajwadi Party's president, Akhilesh Yadav, expressed serious concerns on Monday regarding the recent police recruitment process in Uttar Pradesh. He accused the government of overlooking marginalized communities, represented by the acronym PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsakhyak), during the selection of new constables, and called for greater transparency.

Yadav criticized the recruitment figures, questioning the government's commitment to equitable hiring. He challenged officials to disclose the exact representation of PDA groups within the new constable cohort, labeling the process as part of the BJP's broader agenda. On the other hand, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya hailed the recruitment as historic, noting that many youths are joining the Uttar Pradesh police for the first time.

Amidst allegations, Union Home Minister Amit Shah personally distributed appointment letters to the new recruits, emphasizing the merit-based and corruption-free nature of the process. According to Maurya, the state has provided over 8.5 lakh government jobs in the past eight years, underscoring what he considers a significant achievement of the current administration.
