UDF candidate Aryadan Shoukhath expressed strong confidence in clinching a win in the Nilambur bypoll, claiming the Kerala government has neglected the region, particularly in rehabilitating tribals and addressing human-animal conflict. 'A substantial victory is anticipated,' Shoukhath shared with ANI.
The Nilambur election joins five other constituencies, marking an early indicator for the 2026 Kerala assembly elections. Kerala's Leader of the Opposition and Congress MLA VD Satheesan emphasized that a UDF win would signal a political resurgence in the state.
Meanwhile, LDF candidate M Swaraj, casting his vote earlier, called on all citizens to exercise their right. The BJP has also fielded Adv. Mohan George. The election commenced at 7 AM across various states, including Punjab's Ludhiana West and West Bengal's Kaliganj.
