Goa Cabinet Shake-Up: Why Govind Gaude Was Ousted

Goa's political climate faces turmoil as Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has confirmed the removal of Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude from the state cabinet. Sawant stated that the decision was solely his own, though he refrained from divulging specific reasons.

The decision arose following Gaude's outspoken allegations of corruption within the tribal welfare department, accusations that stirred political tensions across the state. The BJP reacted sharply to Gaude's claims, while the Congress party demanded action against the incumbent government.

Pramod Sawant has ruled out an immediate full-scale cabinet reshuffle, despite mounting pressure. Gaude, who took his ministerial oath in 2022, has been a known tribal leader and has actively served in the cabinet from 2019 to 2022.
