The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the BJP of resurrecting bureaucratic red-tapism and fostering a corrupt environment that stifles Delhi's business growth. AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj criticized the BJP for complicating trade licenses and introducing 'Inspector Raj,' thus hindering the ease of doing business in the capital.
Bharadwaj lambasted the BJP-led Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) for purportedly harassing local businesspersons. He highlighted the party's alleged reversal of progress as they impose a complex licensing system that promotes corruption and extortion at the expense of entrepreneurs striving to manage historic markets.
Expressing concern over enforcement officials wielding new powers to intimidate shopkeepers, Bharadwaj depicted a scenario where businesses face threats of closure unless bribes are paid. Meanwhile, Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa shared that former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair lauded the BJP's achievements, contrasting this praise with AAP's sharp critique.
