Heavy rains slammed Maharashtra, causing significant flooding and landslides across several districts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued red and orange alerts to warn of impending heavy rainfall in regions like Palghar and Pune.
Rising river levels have been reported, with waters breaching danger marks on rivers such as Amba and Jagbudi, leading to the closure of educational institutions as a precaution.
The situation worsened with a landslide in Sangmeshwar, forcing evacuations. The Disaster Management Cell has recorded substantial rainfall, particularly in Mumbai, which received 142.6 mm in a single day.
