The Nilambur Assembly constituency bypoll reported a marginal increase in voter turnout compared to the 2021 elections, according to official figures from the Election Commission released on Friday.

The final count showed a voter turnout of 75.27%, slightly above the 75.20% recorded in the prior 2021 elections. Initial turnout reports late Thursday night indicated a 73.26% turnout. Vote counting is scheduled for June 23.

Polling commenced Thursday at 7 am amidst stringent security, with central and state police forces deployed. The proceedings were monitored live through an expansive webcasting system. The constituency, home to 2.32 lakh voters, witnessed a competitive field of 10 candidates, addressing the vacancy post-P V Anvar's resignation as MLA.
