Political Clash: Minister Majumdar's Convoy Attacked in West Bengal

Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar has alleged a grave breach of privilege following an attack on his convoy by suspected TMC supporters in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district. Majumdar has reported the incident to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, citing a 'threat to life' and demanding the matter be treated as contempt of the House.

The BJP's West Bengal president was visiting Budge Budge to meet with injured party workers when tensions erupted. Supporters of the rival TMC allegedly pelted his convoy with stones. Majumdar accused the police of 'wilful negligence,' stating they failed to act despite the presence of Superintendent Rahul Goswami on the scene.

Majumdar described the incident as endangering both his life and the democratic functioning of parliamentary institutions. He criticized the local police for inaction and took to social media, branding the attack as a 'direct and dangerous assault on Indian democracy.'
