China has taken a significant step toward tightening its diplomatic ties with South Asia, inviting Pakistan and Bangladesh for the inaugural session of a trilateral meeting in Kunming, Yunnan. This meeting is part of Beijing's strategic initiative to bridge gaps between the two South Asian nations.

The event, spearheaded by Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, included senior foreign ministry officials from both Pakistan and Bangladesh. The collaboration follows a recent trilateral framework involving Pakistan and Afghanistan.

During the talks, a consensus emerged on establishing a working group to advance cooperation, reflecting a shared commitment to regional peace, stability, and prosperity, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
