Aam Aadmi Party's Gopal Italia clinched a significant victory in the Visavadar assembly constituency in Gujarat, marking a pivotal moment in the recent assembly bypolls. In a closely contested race, Italia triumphed over his BJP rival Kirit Patel, securing a win by a margin of 17,554 votes, as per the Election Commission data.
Meanwhile, the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) wrested control of Kerala's Nilambur from the ruling LDF by a margin of 11,077 votes, signaling a shifting political landscape in the region. Additionally, the Trinamool Congress retained its stronghold in West Bengal's Kaliganj constituency with candidate Alifa Ahmed winning by a landslide.
