In a fiery address at a protest rally on Sunday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal condemned the alleged demolition of slums under the Delhi government, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The rally, held at Jantar Mantar, was organized to oppose actions that Kejriwal claims have rendered many homeless in Delhi.
Kejriwal accused the BJP of prioritizing land acquisition over the well-being of Delhi's impoverished residents, insisting that his warnings during the election campaign have come to fruition. According to Kejriwal, the BJP has completely upended Delhi, dismantling livelihoods in just five months since gaining power.
The protest, led by AAP leaders including Manish Sisodia and Saurabh Bharadwaj, drew attention to allegations that over 10,000 slum dwellings, housing more than one lakh residents, have been demolished. Meanwhile, Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa defended the government's actions, arguing that alternative housing has been provided to those displaced.
