All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) MP Samirul Islam has raised concerns over the treatment of Bengali-speaking migrant workers in BJP-governed states, accusing authorities of persecution and wrongful branding as Bangladeshis.

Despite carrying valid identity documents, many workers are reportedly facing harassment, illegal detention, and forcible deportation to Bangladesh without due process, according to Islam.

Highlighting the situation as undemocratic, Islam questions the motives behind these actions, suggesting they might be politically driven to penalize West Bengal for electoral outcomes.
