In a significant political development, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar announced on Monday the acceptance of the resignation tendered by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjeev Arora from his role as a member of the Upper House, effective July 1.
Elected to the Rajya Sabha for the first time on April 10, 2022, representing Punjab, Arora's term was initially supposed to run until April 9, 2028. However, his recent victory in the Ludhiana West assembly bypoll prompted his resignation.
During a session, Dhankhar informed the House that he received Arora's resignation letter on July 1 and has accepted the resignation, bringing an end to Arora's legislative responsibilities in the Rajya Sabha as of July 1. The announcement marks a pivotal change in representation from Punjab in the Upper House.
