In a scathing critique of the BJP, TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee declared in a rally at Kolkata that the 'Bangla-Birodhi' party would be sent to detention camps after the 2026 elections. This move, he insists, will reciprocate the harassment West Bengal residents face in BJP-governed states.
Banerjee also accused the Election Commission of India of manipulating the voters' list and pledged to confront the alleged disenfranchisement by organizing protests in Delhi. His remarks emerged during the TMC's Martyrs' Day rally, where he highlighted BJP's continuous humiliation of Bengal.
The TMC leader called out Assam's Chief Minister for labeling Bengali-speaking citizens as Bangladeshis and urged Bengali pride by encouraging the community to speak their language more often. With confidence in Bengal's electorate, Banerjee predicted the reduction of BJP's seats in the upcoming elections.
