Amid mounting opposition protests over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) being conducted by the Election Commission in Bihar, Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, leveled serious allegations on Wednesday. Gandhi claimed that an 'election theft' is underway in India, asserting that votes are being illicitly manipulated.
Responding to queries about the removal of 52 lakh voters from the electoral roll amid Bihar's SIR exercise, Gandhi extended allegations, citing similar malpractices in Maharashtra. He criticized the Election Commission for altering rules and refusing to provide video evidence when questioned about voter list integrity.
Gandhi emphasized that the issue spans beyond one state, suggesting a systemic overhaul effort by the Election Commission once opposition scrutiny exposed irregularities. During the ongoing parliamentary session, opposition leaders are pressing the Prime Minister for explanations on critical issues, including alleged voter disenfranchisement in Bihar and other national concerns.
