Pradyot Debbarma, the leader of the Tipra Motha Party, is taking a proactive stance against illegal immigration in Tripura. On Friday, he called for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) to set up a monitoring committee dedicated to detecting illegal immigrants in the area.
Debbarma emphasized the need for the TTAADC committee to operate beyond party politics to effectively safeguard the region's interests. As the tribal council's elections loom next year, this issue is gaining traction.
Recently, Debbarma met with Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and BJP president JP Nadda to advocate for a Special Intensive Revision of Tripura's electoral rolls. He highlighted the potential risk of illegal immigrants moving into Tripura from Assam and reiterated that this committee should function as a guardian of local rights.
